Superyacht cruising is opening up beyond the usual hubs with marina facilities being developed and upgraded around the world. CNN has chosen 10 of the newest sailing playgrounds at a number one we have Ao Po Grand Marina, Phuket.

Apart from the stunning backdrop of the region, a large part of the attraction of the Ao Po Grand Marina is its proximity to major facilities. Phuket International Airport is only 15 minutes away, as are major hotels and resorts.

“Yacht owners and charter companies choose our marina for its 24-hour access, with zero tide restrictions and its prime location at the gate of Phang Nga Bay, Phuket’s premier sailing ground,” says managing director Khun Kasem Chiarasomboon.

With the official opening of the Ao Po Grand Marina, Phuket’s latest and most spectacular Marina development in the North East of the island, Yacht owners can now berth their superyacht there. Construction of the Marina started in 2006, and the Marina is now open for business. With an impressive capacity of 200 berths, the Marina can host yachts of any boat length from 6m up to 80m+ and has a special focus on facilitating Superyachts.

“Ao Po Grand Marina is my number one pick of  all the marinas in Thailand. The location looks directly at magnificent Phang Nga, the fuel dock is ideally located, rubbish collection and security are world class. I have no hesitation in recommending Ao Po Grand Marina to all our managed boat owners simply because it has all-tide access and is located on the doorstep of the best cruising grounds in the Kingdom.”
