Thai food is famous the world over for its exotic blend of sweet and sour, and without doubt the best place to sample quality Thai cuisine is in the Land of Smiles itself.

And those who choose this colorful country as their  Absolute Vacation  Club destination, will not be disappointed by the mouth-watering fare which awaits them, either in their luxury accommodation or in the scores of excellent restaurants found in Thailand.

Whether you decide to stay in a five-star hotel or private villa on your Absolute Vacation  Club holiday, you are sure to want to sample some of the best Thai food on offer. So to help you choose when you are presented with a menu, below are some of our favorite local dishes:
Tom Yam Goong

Those who invest in vacation ownership in Thailand will soon discover that this delicious dish laced with fragrant herbs is hardly ever off the menu. An intoxicating mélange of lemongrass, lime leaves, chili, fish sauce, jumbo shrimps and mushrooms make this delicacy a winner every time. The flavorsome dish makes an ideal starter or worthy main dish when accompanied by rice.

Pad Thai

Another hugely popular dish which those with vacation ownership in Thailand might well have sampled before even arriving in the Land of Smiles is Pad Thai, pronounced Pat Thai. Every Thai has his or her own recipe for this national institution but it is largely a noodle-based dish dressed up with tofu, bean sprouts, onion, and ground peanuts.

Kuay Tiew (Noodle Soup)

Noodle soup is the staple of the Thai eating experience, and can be found in almost every eatery from street-side vendors to the very best restaurants in any one of the country’s five star hotels. The main ingredient is of course noodles which are served up in a broth with pork, chicken, beef, duck, or seafood.

Som Tam

A popular dish from the northeastern corner of Thailand is Som tam ‘spicy papaya salad’, which now can be found the length and breadth of the country. Needless to say this dish is made with papaya, and is a perfect accompaniment to barbequed chicken and sticky rice.

Geng Kheaw Wan Gai (Green Curry Chicken)

Arguably the most popular Thai curry – of which there are many – is green curry which can be meat or fish based. This deliciously spicy meal is laced with coconut milk and it is normally served with rice.
