Page wins Laguna Phuket Marathon

Michael Page of Great Britain won the Laguna Phuket International Marathon 2013 this weekend, completing the 42km circuit in 2 hours 41 minutes and 2 seconds.


Panom Khansamol of Thailand placed third with a time of 02:58:23.

Naomi Ochiai of Japan was the first woman to round the course, with a time of 03:19:38.

Fellow Japanese national Fumie Terahata placed second with a time of 03:27:34, followed by Ninik Sugiwati of Indonesia, who ran a course time of 03:34:48.

Jackson Kibet Kenei of Kenya won the 21km Half Marathon, crossing the line in 01:15:45.

Hot on his heels was Absolute World Ambassador Jaray Jearanai of Thailand and Asle Slettemoen of Norway, who raced stride by stride for the line.


Jaray won the sprint, crossing the finish line with a course time of 01:19:01 – less than 2 seconds ahead of Slettemoen (01:20:51).

Veronique Messina of France claimed top honors across the Half Marathon women’s categories with a time of 01:35:54.

Close behind was Laainam Chaipornkaew of Thailand (01:36:33), followed by Kathrin Puff of Germany (01:38:39).

More than 4,000 runners took part in the Laguna Phuket event today, which also included a 10.5km Run, a 5km Walk and a 2km Kids Run for 12 years old and under.
