Phuket prepares for second Go-Eco Phuket event

On June 17th 2013 at the meeting room of the Center for Marine and Coastal Conservation 5, the Director of Division of Mechanics – Mrs.Wassana Sriwilai, acting on behalf of Chief Executive of PPAO – Mr.Paiboon Upattising, together with PPAO staff and involved agencies join to discuss the Second Go-Eco Phuket activity.


At the meeting, preparations were made for the organization of the Second Go-Eco Phuket which is to be held on August 13th 2013, and will be dedicated to a royal charity in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. It is hoped that the event will be placed in the Guinness Book of World Records with a world record number of people participating in the event. Prior to the event and activity will be held under the title “volunteerism Go-Eco Phuket”. At the meeting Executives of PADI companies presented information on the concept and activities featured in the First Go-Eco Phuket event, held on September 30th, 2012 and advised of problems and difficulties that they experienced with the event.

The second “GO ECO PHUKET” event is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of keeping the waters around Phuket debris free and to help reduce the amount of debris there is. It will feature two main activities; volunteers who will dive to remove debris in the sea at Koh Racha Yai Racha Noi and Koh Hae and a “Big Cleaning Day” activity to clean the beaches in Patong, Kata, Karon etc.
