At least 15 hotels are expected to be in attendance at tomorrow’s (July 5) Fin Free Thailand’s Blue List event held at Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort.

The event, which will run from 12.30-4pm, aims to raise awareness of the ills of shark fin fishing and as an act of solidarity, hotels will be signing and pledging to refuse to serve the ‘delicacy’ at any of their on-site restaurants.

Around 30 students from local schools are also expected to be present, who will, through a series of games and activities, learn more about about shark conservation.

The event, which has been organised by Phuket-based environmental group SEEK is further hoping that the event will lead to the strengthening of relationships between other hotels, so that they may ultimately be able to approach TAT to promote the Fin Free Campaign as a part of eco-tourism and environmental conservation.
