Absolute Review : Gallery Cafe by Pinky

Posted on December 4, 2013

A trendy cafe on the eastern corner of Rassada Road in Phuket town, Gallery Cafe by Pinky has become a popular haunt on the Phuket restaurant scene. Run by Pinky Jatikavanich, a Bangkok-born Thai with a Patissries degree from Le Cordon Bleu in London, the cafe is hands-on, small and uniquely decorated. Pastel orange walls and comfy Thai silk cushions make up the infrastructure of the restaurant, while the massive book case on the back wall is something to behold. There’s also an open-air terrace in the alley adjacent to the cafe.

The kitchen is located behind that massive book case, and the food that comes forth is exceptional and affordable. Gallery Cafe by Pinky specializes in pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, salads and breakfasts. We might even argue that this is the island’s best full English breakfast option. Gallery Cafe by Pinky also offers a traditional Sunday roast with the fixings every week, and often creates a special menu for such holidays as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. A variety of wine and beers are also available at the cafe, as well as the main staples of coffee, smoothies and fresh squeezed juices.

As frequent visitors to the cafe, usually for breakfast or brunch, our recommendations include the Veggie Breakfast and the Spiced French Toast with bacon and maple syrup. The latter is truly heaven for an expat with a craving for home.

Gallery Cafe by Pinky is open daily from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. The only exception is Sunday, when the cafe closes at 6:00 pm. Do stop by when you are touring around the sites of Phuket Old Town. We guarantee you’ll love the food!
