Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X announce a new era of digital engagement with the online community at the official launch of YouTube Thailand, a new fully localized YouTube platform.

The airline looks forward to increasing its online presence with an emphasis on adding new online video content via its official YouTube Channel in order to engage with existing travellers and create an accessible online community for all.

Together with Google Thailand, the hip and cool airline is once again demonstrating their understanding of Gen C, ‘the connected generation’ and using technology and innovation to differentiate itself as an industry leader.

Nadda Buranasiri, CEO of Thai AirAsia X said, “AirAsia has always emphasized the importance of technology and innovation in our business model. The launch of YouTube Thailand marks a new era for us in terms of our digital strategy going forward and we have been very lucky to work closely with Google to maximize our engagement with the connected generation.

“We look forward to telling our unique story to the billions of YouTube users around the world, to starting new conversations with our existing passengers and to creating new meaningful relationships via this effective platform. YouTube Thailand is going to be a very important tool for us to share information about our product and to gain a more insightful understanding of today’s young and hip travelers.”

The airline reveals that with its new emphasis on YouTube, a revamp of their digital content will include new video content with educational information about the product and destinations, along with other useful online content that will be aimed at creating a hub for the online travel community.

The announcement was timely made at the launch of YouTube Thailand at an official press conference held by Google Thailand on 19 May 2014.

Ariya Banomyong, Country Head of Google Thailand said of Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X, “Thais love YouTube and are already watching millions of hours everyday. Brands also love YouTube because they can engage with virtually any audience, in new, innovative ways that are only possible through video.

“Today 35% of all travel searches in Thailand are from YouTube, showing the increasing role of video for modern travelers, and with the top destinations searched for on YouTube ranging from Cambodia to Korea, Thai AirAsia and the newly launched Thai AirAsia X, are well positioned to utilize YouTube to inspire, educate and entertain this engaged audience.”
