Around 200 people from across Thailand, including around 60 from Phuket, joined the iServe training programme last weekend (June 6-7) to learn how to do volunteer work in their community.

The iServe network is run in provinces across Thailand, and aims to encourage young people aged 15 to 35 to volunteer in the community.

Volunteer leader Mitch Atkins, originally from New Zealand but now based in Songkhla province, said while in Phuket the volunteers also did several beach clean ups, and talked to students at primary schools and at Rajabhat University.

“Another activity that volunteers from iServe did was to help the local churches put on a concert at Saphan Hin Gymnasium on June 7.”
