Absolute Review: I-Fried Café Bar

Posted on June 13, 2014

I-Fried Café Bar is new to the Patong dining scene. Located in the Islanda Boutique Hotel, the café bar is airy and spacious. Simple décor and minimalist style accentuate the charm of the venue. There is a hospitable warmth about the place; a variety of green potted plants and succulents provide a garden oasis, subtle music plays in the background, and the chef is not only friendly and engaging, but very skilled in creating authentic Thai dishes with a Western twist.

The food at I-Fried Café Bar is exceptional. Each dish is authentically Thai with a Western twist. The portions are ample, and the prices beyond affordable. We sampled the special set menu of the day, which was stir-fried spicy spaghetti with grilled pork. The dish was bursting with typical Thai flavors of chili, basil and garlic; the rich tomato sauce balanced out the spiciness. The pork was tender and juicy, and complimented the pasta dish perfectly.

Experimenting with and expanding the young menu, I-Fried Café Bar currently offers a small variety of delicious dishes – spicy stir-fried beef, chicken soup with cumin, creamy pasta with shrimp, grilled pork with black pepper sauce and a few other fried rice and pasta plates.

The chef of I-Fried Café Bar is a well-recognized face around Phuket. Fondly known as Khun Dam in the local community, the chef is also a favorite musician amongst Phuket’s local scene. Chances are he’ll have his guitar at I-Fried Café Bar, so feel free to hang out and relax after finishing your meal. Khun Dam speaks excellent English, and welcomes your feedback on the food. He’s also happy to create dishes based upon your requests.

I-Fried Café Bar is open Monday until Saturday from 11:30-15:00pm and then again from 17:00-20:30pm. It is located in the Islanda Boutique Hotel, which is just behind the Jungceylon Shopping Complex in Patong. More information can be found on I-Fried’s Café Bar Facebook page:
