Absolute Review – Irish Times Pub

Posted on June 24, 2014

Irish Times Pub is 100% Irish owned & managed, making it the only authentic Irish pub on the island of Phuket. Located in the Jungceylon Shopping Complex in Patong, Irish Times Pub finds itself in the middle of Phuket’s world famous nightlife.

Irish Times Pub offers daily specials, live music a few nights a week, a Wednesday Quiz night as well as sports days and various special events, but the real appeal of Irish Times Pub is the food.

The extensive menu includes favorites such as Guiness Pie, Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash and Irish Stew. Not to mention a variety of breakfast items, burgers, sandwiches, salads and even a Thai menu.

Irish Times Pub also hosts a traditional Sunday Carvery. Served buffet style, options include Roast Beef, BBQ Ham, Chicken, Pork, Vegetables and Yorkshire Pudding. The Sunday Carvery is a great value, and offers a taste of home for many holidaymakers and local expats alike.

We visited Irish Times Pub on a humid, stormy afternoon and cooled down with an ice cold Magners Irish Cider. Despite the rain, we chose a table on the covered outdoor terrace, and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly wait staff and the delicious food. Our late afternoon snack consisted of Cottage Pie and Deep Fried Mushrooms. The Cottage Pie was perfect, and the Deep Fried Mushrooms served with tartar sauce were a tasty starter.

We were impressed with the friendly, attentive staff at Irish Times Pub. Even though it was raining, we remained dry. However, the wait staff made sure to consistently check on all of the patrons on the outdoor terrace and they made the effort to ask us if we’d like to change seats and go inside. Another positive comment for the wait staff is that they speak great English. Our waitress made lots of jokes and took very good care of us.

Located in the Jungceylon Shopping Complex in Patong, Irish Times Pub recently celebrated their 7th anniversary. As the pub is easily accessible from all of our Patong-based Absolute Resorts & Hotels, we highly recommend that you stop in and have a drink or a meal.

Irish Times Pub is open daily from 11:00am – 1:00am. Although the pub takes reservations, there is no need to book in advance as walk-ins are just as welcome. Irish Times Pub is spacious, so it’s perfect for big groups or families on holiday. More information can be found on their Facebook page or their website:
