Asia’s mega yachts return to Sala Phuket Resort for the 17th annual Asia Superyacht Rendezvous Cup, 19 to 21 January 2018.

The Rendezvous Cup, scheduled one week later than in previous years, will be hosted for the second year in a row at the Sala Phuket Resort on Mai Khao Bay offering a weekend of competitive sailing and parties.

On the sidelines there will also be a Corinthian Class for those who prefer non-competitive fun sailing.

Attracting the region’s boat owners, captains and crew, Captain Pascal Pellat-Finet of S/Y Tiara who attended the 2016 Rendezvous Cup described the regatta as “Fair sailing with great people.”

The prestigious, invitation-only sailing yacht regatta is also accompanied by an entourage of motor yachts to offer guests and event participants close up viewing of the races.

Sala Resort Phuket group director of business development,  Nicolas Reschke, and regional general manager, Jon Ashenden, reported: “Following our successful partnership last year, we are delighted to support the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous once again this year”.

Reschke added: “Not only does this unique event associate the Sala brand with the luxury leisure sector, it also helps shine the light on Mai Khao beach as a stunning tropical destination for visitors arriving by land or sea.”

The resort is located on Phuket’s west coast, just 20 minutes from Phuket International Airport at the northern end of Phuket island.

Asia Superyacht Rendezvous was established in Phuket 16 years ago and was in its early years hosted by the former Chedi on Surin Beach. The 14th and 15th annual regattas were hosted at Kata Rocks, moving to Sala Phuket Resort for the 16th edition.
